How Should You Spend Your Leap Year?

The 29th February is not something that you would encounter every year, as it only happens once every 4 years. That means, once every 4 years we would get an extra 24 hours to use. Because of that, let’s make the most of our extra time this year! Here are a few suggestions you can spend your leap year from us!

Have a day without tech

Because of how busy the modern day is, it is very hard to have a day to plug off and get away from your techs. Then, how about you spend your leap year doing just that? Turn off your wi-fi, your phone (after you tell everyone you need to tell, of course), and close your laptop. You can then enjoy a walk in the park, jog with your dogs, or simply spend your entire day reading books you have been neglecting for a long time.

Go on a journey

Another way to spend your leap year is by going on a journey. However, it should not be just another journey! Instead, try going to a place you never knew before. You can go there using your own car, or you can pick the more challenging way: use public transportations such as train, bus, or even ferry. You can research the place you are planning to go first, so you can make a plan on what you are going to do there.

Declutter

Our third choice of spending your extra 24 hours might not be as adventurous as the others. However, it is one of the most productive things that you could do as you spend your leap year. Not to mention, decluttering has been a hot topic amongst many people nowadays, thanks to the books written by Marie Kondo about tidying up your room by trying to find which items no longer sparks any joy and throwing them away.

Do something out of your bucket list

Do you have a list of things you wanted to do if given the time and opportunity? If you do, maybe you can spend your leap year by checking them off! Would you like to try a certain restaurant but never got the time? Do it! If you wanted to have a good looking tattoo on your back, do it! Or maybe you would like to try sports you never tried before such as horse-riding, archery, or skateboarding.

Apply some self-love

Our last suggestion for you to spend your leap year is to do some self-love for yourself. Maybe up until today, you have been working hard—or too hard, so this extra 24 hours can be your time to take care of yourself. Go read the book you have always wanted to read. Go to the cafe you have always glanced during your way home. Turn off your phone and keep your days headache-free.

Those are our top picks for things you can do to spend your leap year that will come only once every 4 years. The most important thing you can do during the extra 24 hours is to enjoy it to the fullest. You can read books to get new knowledge, or you can simply use the entire day to take a full rest. There is no wrong choice, but you should first finish your responsibility before doing what you wanted to do!
